As part of an ongoing series of interviews and conversations to celebrate Black History Month, (brought to you in part, by Bluefield State University) I spoke with Sarah Ponder, who became the first African-American female conductor for Norfolk Southern's Pocahontas Division in 1998. She was kind enough to share some stories and lessons learned from her career.
